The Elf Adventure

Information for schools

A joyful and musical new festive show for school groups about community, heritage and Christmas spirit at Leeds Central Library this December.

The Elf Adventure features playful storytelling, original music and songs, friendly audience participation and a warm welcome to all.

Join Elf Dorrit and the team on a twisty-turny adventure as they discover secret passageways, forgotten floors and long-lost treasures of Christmas’s past.

400 Stories Free of charge in-school workshops

In the lead-up to the festive show, we are offering schools FREE in-school workshops!

Through the storytelling workshops, children will have the opportunity to co-create an exhibition celebrating stories which will be displayed at Leeds Central Library this winter. ‘400 Stories’ links to the ‘Leeds 400’ year of heritage, marking 400 years since Leeds received its first royal charter.

RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS

Free learning resources accompany the show designed to be independently delivered by teachers. The resources link to several curriculum areas and include activities to enable children to:

  • Reflect on the performance, characters and key story moments

  • Explore important themes (heritage, community)

  • Explore telling their own stories and creating their own performances

  • Support curriculum literacy and oracy objectives

HASSLE FREE VISIT

Leeds Central Library has a drop off area for coaches, a staff welcome on arrival, an escort to the Room 700 performance space, a place in the Children’s Library for eating packed lunches, first aid facilities and accessible toilets next to the performance space.

If your school would be doing mini-bus shuttle runs to get the children to the show, we can arrange activities in children’s library to extend the visit before and after the show.

ACCESSIBILITY

The library is fully accessible by wheelchair

All performances of The Elf Adventure are ‘relaxed’, with no sudden noises or black out lighting

A visual story and introductory audio notes are both available in advance of the production

BSL interpreted performances are available – please contact us to arrange
